"Complicating the investigation is that none of the witnesses are telling police the truth about what happened, said Deputy Chief Clay Dowis, who heads the Springfield Police Department’s investigations division.

“We’ve interviewed seven or eight people who were physically there, and each one presents a substantially different chain of events. It really muddies it up as far as getting a handle on events,” Dowis said. “At some point, the truth is going to come out.”"
